everybody's looking for a little bit of something
something little different from everything else they know
everybody sets their sights on the skies above
when what it is they're looking for often lies far below
take a rainbow touching down one town away from the place you call your home
you're getting rained on and maybe you're neighbor's getting showered on with gold
but dollars to dimes he's seeing and saying the same thing you are
when the colors of course are the real treasures untold

you gotta open up your eyes to really see the seasons changing
gotta open up your ears if want to hear the song the rain sings
the sun beats down but feeling the heat is far from seeing the star
it'll fill your soul up if you let it with love

everybody's looking for a little bit of someone
someone little different from everyone else they know
ever wonder what the world and the girl next door would look like
one decision different and all would be not what you know
take a dream pick it out of a hat like a tv commercial
wrapped up like that and the facts are stacked up against you someone once said
if you get along with what you've got you've got more than most to go on
like a song you always hear gets stuck in your head at least you can sing along

see the mountains before me the rolling seas lapping at their feet
tickle their toes and i'm sure the mountains call for more
and the sunset behind what a find for the creatures who happen to see
what a beautiful way to say goodbye to the day and get a good bead on the night scene
